Description

The chapel, located immediately north-west of Fardel Manor House, may date back to the 13th century, although it was licensed in 1421 or 1432 by Bidings Lacy. The structure is built of stone rubble with granite dressings, and has an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. The north and south sides feature lancet windows. A 15th-century three-light east window displays Perpendicular tracery. The east window’s rere arch is from the 13th century and incorporates nook shafts. An east gable has a stone crossover. A chamfered four-centred arch forms the south doorway, leading to a small gabled porch with a two-centred arch and a stone-coped gable topped with a stone cross. Inside the chapel, a piscina is set into the south wall, and an aumbry is on the north. A blocked arch is visible in the west wall.
