Description

Stockwell Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th or 18th century, which was extended and modernised in the later 20th century. The walls are likely rendered slate stone rubble, possibly with some cob. The roof is thatched, gabled to the left end and half-hipped to the right, with two rendered, probably brick, stacks. The original plan was likely a two-room layout, possibly with a passage, but this was altered in the 20th century, with an axial stack dividing the two rooms. A late 20th century addition has been built on the north side. The front elevation has an asymmetrical two-window design with late 20th century small-paned two-light casement windows. A small stair light is located to the right of the centre, and there are late 20th century French windows to the right. A single-storey flat-roofed extension has been built at right angles on the front, with a porch in between it and the main house. The interior has been largely modernised, with beams and fireplaces probably altered.
