Description
The garden wall, gate piers, and mounting block located to the southwest of Downton Farmhouse are likely from the 18th century. The wall is primarily constructed of slate rubble and features stone saddle back coping, standing about 2 meters high. There is a fairly wide gateway leading into the garden, flanked by a pair of red brick gate piers built in stretcher bond, which have rendered pyramidal caps. The piers are designed with rebates for gates that have since been replaced. Adjacent to the gable end of the rear wing of the house, there is a stone rubble mounting block with steps on both sides.
