Description
Old Mill Bridge is a road bridge located over a stream at the head of Old Mill Creek, which is a tributary of the River Dart. It likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and is constructed from dressed slate rubble. The bridge features two small spans with widely spaced arches. The main span to the north is wider and has a three-centred arch, while the smaller span to the south has a segmental arch. Both arches are adorned with dressed slate arch rings and chamfered imposts at the springing points. The parapets are well-preserved, flaring out over the north abutment and rising at the center; they are finished with vertical lacing slates and dressed slate coping stones. There are no cutwaters present. This bridge is a well-preserved example of late 17th or early 18th-century design, attractively situated at the head of a picturesque creek.
