Description
This is a house, likely dating to the 16th century or earlier, and substantially altered in the 20th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble with a slate roof, the roof being gabled at each end. The chimneys have old brick shafts. It is believed the house may have once been connected to number 79 Pilton Street.
The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical facade with a four-window range. A large double door is situated on the left-hand side. A recessed front door is positioned to the right of the centre, and it features a 16-panel door that was taken from Pilton House. There are three tall, transomed mullioned windows on the ground floor and four on the first floor, each fitted with square leaded panes, intended to replace earlier timber sash windows.
The interior was not inspected. Historical records, as recounted by Reed, suggest a window dates to the 15th century, and illustrations depict a timber newel staircase leading through a chamfered, crank-arched door frame of 16th-century character. The house was historically associated with clothiers called Parminter during the 17th and 18th centuries.
