Description
Farriers Cottage is a tenement farmhouse, now used for holiday accommodation. It likely dates from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted roughcast rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled at the right. There are brick stacks at each end of the cottage. The layout consists of a two-room and cross-passage plan, with the larger room on the right heated by an end stack; the smaller room on the left may have originally been unheated. A staircase is located at the rear of the passage. The exterior has two storeys and features a three-window range with 20th-century fenestration, all consisting of small two-light casements, along with a 20th-century door. The interior has not been inspected, but it is known to retain original ceiling beams.
