Description

North Woolley Farmhouse, along with an attached barn and shippon, dates from the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof, with brick stacks at both gable ends. It has a three-cell plan and stands two storeys high. The front facade includes four two-light timber casement windows with glazing bars, each having six panes per light. These windows are positioned above a single two-light casement to the left and two three-light casements on either side of an off-centre doorway to the right. All window openings are topped with slightly cambered stone arches and slate sills. A slate roof porch with stone jambs, one of which incorporates reused medieval gables, is located at the entrance.

A single-storey wash-house projects at a right angle from the right gable end of the farmhouse. The attached bank barn is built of stone rubble and has a gable-ended slate roof, partially covered in corrugated iron. It features external stone steps leading to a winnowing door at the front, which is sheltered by a corrugated iron hood, with a storeroom located below. Adjoining the barn is a lower shippon with a hipped corrugated iron roof, which includes a loft above and a cartway running through. There is also a lean-to outshut on the front that was formerly used as a pigsty.
