EAST DOWN EAST DOWN VILLAGE Monument 15 metres north-east of Church of St John the Baptist (formerly listed as Church House Chamber)

Pedestal tomb, dated 1876 in the form of a temple. Anthemion and acroteria surmounting a moulded pediment with representational low relief sculpture between pilasters of pedestal above moulded bases containing inscriptions. Female figure mourning over draped and garlanded urn beneath overhanging tree. Inscription reads to Anne Arthur (died 1877) and other later family inscriptions round base.
