Description

This chest tomb, dated 1715, is located approximately 14 metres south of the chancel of the Church of All Saints in North Molton. It is constructed from finely-jointed sandstone blocks that are nearly of ashlar quality, with some repointing carried out in the 20th century. The tomb features a coved cornice on its flat top. The top slab is adorned with an inscribed border, which includes an inscription for Richard Moorner of South Holdridge, who was buried on 4th December 1715 at the age of 73. The long inscription also commemorates other family members who passed away in the 18th century.
