Description
The garden walls and gate piers located immediately south of Whitechapel Manor are likely from the early 18th century and are part of the refurbishment of the manor. The walls are made of stone rubble, while the gate piers are constructed from handmade brick in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring stone cornices and finials. The wall encloses a terraced garden directly in front of the manor and includes two flights of steps leading to a paved path that approaches the porch. The stone walls show remnants of limewash. The square-section gate piers have plinths and moulded stone cornices, topped with stone ball finials. These features are significant to the setting of the grade I listed house.
