Description

Cobblestone Court is a house likely dating from the 18th century, situated in Chittlehamholt. It is constructed primarily of painted stone rubble with some cob, and features a hipped thatch roof. Brick stacks are located at the left end and across the rear, right-hand angle, with a slate roof over a kitchen lean-to at the left end. The building probably originally comprised two rooms and a cross-passage, with stairs initially positioned to the rear of the passage. Entry now leads directly into the left-hand room. The fenestration is largely 20th century, including two three-light casements and one two-light casement, all with three panes per light, positioned above French windows to the left of a 20th-century rustic timber porch with a lean-to roof and a 20th-century stable door. A single-storey outbuilding, used as a garage and with a hipped slate roof, extends at right angles from the front, right end of the house. A horizontal sliding sash window with 18 panes is located at the right end of the house. A cobbled courtyard lies to the front. The interior has been predominantly altered in the 20th century, although some 19th-century joinery remains. The roof has not been inspected.
