Description
No. 23 Castle Street is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the late 18th century. It features a painted brick front and a slated roof, with an old red brick chimney on the left end wall and another on the front of the tall rear wing. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The centre doorway is likely from the mid-19th century and includes a doorcase with panelled pilasters and eccentric pendants beneath the capitals, along with a frieze and cornice. The door itself is a six-panelled design with panelled reveals. The windows are all segmental-headed with tripartite sashes, except for a single-light window in the middle of the upper storey. The ground storey sashes are plain with margin-panes in the centre light, while the upper storey features six-paned sashes, except for the two-paned side-lights. The building also has a boxed, moulded eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
