Description
Ash Mill Mill and the miller's house are disused buildings, likely dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The structures are colourwashed and rendered, featuring a slate roof that is gabled at both ends, with end stacks on the house, the right stack projecting. The house faces south and has a single depth layout, consisting of two rooms wide with a central entrance and an outside privy attached to the left (west) end. The mill building, located to the right (east), contains an overshot water wheel in a pit at the far right end, which is covered by a corrugated iron lean-to. It is connected to the house by a covered cartway.
The exterior of the house is two storeys high and features an almost symmetrical three-bay south elevation with a central gabled porch and two-light timber casement windows, likely from the 19th century. The mill building has two windows and a loft doorway on the right side. The waterwheel remains intact, complete with timber buckets. Although there was no access to the interior during the survey in 1987, the mill was operational in 1965, and the machinery, which was fully intact in 1978, is reported to still be in working order.
