Description

Brightley Cross is a cross and cross-shaft, likely dating from the late medieval period. It is made of granite and features a monolithic design in the shape of a Latin cross with an octagonal shaft. Locally, Brightley Cross and Winson Cross were referred to as "Stonen Hammer." The cross is situated almost against an old beech tree at the junction of two byroads, positioned between an ancient mansion and the parish church.
