Description
Spratt's Cottage is a cottage that is part of a row, possibly dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of roughcast cob and has a gable end roof covered with asbestos slate. The house features a two-room, cross-passage plan, with the main rooms located on either side of the passage. It has an axial stack that is shared with Copper's Cottage on the left. The cottage is two storeys high.
The front exterior is almost symmetrical, with a three-window range. The first floor has small 19th-century casement windows with two lights, and there are three-light casement windows on either side of a central glazed door. The rear has three single-light windows on the first floor, along with 20th-century extensions. Although the interior has not been fully inspected, a chamfered cross ceiling beam with step stops is visible in the right-hand room. Spratt's Cottage is part of an attractive row of 16th and 17th-century buildings, alongside Copper's Cottage and The Cottage.
