Description

Ivy Cottage is a small house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is located in Bolham, near Tiverton. The house is constructed of red brick with a dry slate hipped roof, featuring projecting eaves with cast-iron ogee gutters and tall brick end stacks topped with entablatures and three clay pots. It follows a two-room plan with a central entrance and stair hall.

The exterior presents a symmetrical three-window facade. The upper floor has 12-pane hornless sash windows with segmental arches above. The lower floor has original margin-pane sash windows with round arches. A central doorway is sheltered by a round-hooded trellised porch with a margin-spoked fanlight, and a glazed and panelled door. The interior was not inspected.

Attached to the right of the house are a pair of square-plan brick gate piers, also panelled, with a simple entablature and squat pyramidal caps.
