Description

The Davey chest tomb, located about 10 metres north-west of the tower of the Church of St Mary, is a memorial dating from around 1837 to John Davey, who died in that year. It is made of Portland stone and white marble, featuring a rectangular shape with a moulded base and a flat lid that has a soffit-moulded design. The sides of the tomb have sunken panels of white marble, each surrounded by hollow-chamfered edges. The south side commemorates John Davey, while other family members are remembered on the east and northern sides.
