Description

The Mander chest tomb, located about 25 metres north of the west tower of the Church of St Mary, dates from around 1827. It serves as a memorial to James Mander of Churston Ferriers, who died in 1827. The tomb is made of Portland stone and white marble, featuring a rectangular shape with a moulded base and a soffit-moulded flat lid. The sides of the tomb have sunken panels of white marble, which are surrounded by hollow-chamfered edges. James Mander is commemorated on the north side of the tomb.
