Description

This headstone, dated 1802, is located approximately 10 meters south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Matthew. It commemorates Petterael Shobrook and is made of slate. The upright slab stands about 0.6 meters high and features a shaped head that is recessed. Above the inscription, which is written in upper and lower case Roman serif lettering, there is a shallow bas-relief cherub. This headstone is noted for its surprisingly old-fashioned design.
