Description
Chettiscombe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 1840s. It is constructed of red brick laid in English bond and features a steep dry slate roof with projecting eaves and verges, along with exposed purlins and rafter ends. The building has two axial brick stacks, one with five shafts and the other with two shafts, both having diagonally-set shafts with cogged cornices. The architectural style includes Tudor Revival details. The farmhouse has a three-room plan, with a short service wing at a right angle to the rear right and another wing at a lower level to the left of the house.
The exterior is two storeys plus an attic and has a four-window range. There are square hoodmoulds over original moulded two-light mullioned windows, each with twelve panes per light. The ground floor features similar windows and a four-bay open verandah supported by iron stanchions. There is a doorway with a planked door located in the third bay from the left. The right-hand return has similar windows with hoodmoulds, including a single light attic window above a two-light window and a three-light window.
The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be as unaltered as the exterior.
