Description
These stables, located approximately 12 metres south of Ford Farmhouse, have origins dating back to the 17th century but were mostly rebuilt in the late 19th century. The front is made of plastered cob resting on rubble footings, while the rest of the structure is of exposed rubble, topped with a red tile roof. The stable block has a gable end and includes a hayloft above, facing north. Originally, the front was symmetrical, featuring a central door flanked by windows, with a hayloft loading hatch above. However, the left window has been replaced by a large 20th-century doorway. The roof is a late 19th-century common rafter design. These stables are part of a group that includes a nearby barn, cowshed, and the picturesque Ford Farmhouse.
