Description
Cherry Tree Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with renovations in the 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rendered cob and features a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building has a projecting stack at the right end and a left end stack with a dismantled shaft. The plan consists of a single depth two-room layout with a central entrance and two heated rooms, along with a one-room plan addition at the right end that has a tiled roof.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical front that has three windows. The central front door is flanked by two casement windows with leaded panes on the ground floor and three on the first floor. Inside, the cottage has been largely modernized, but there is a roughly-chamfered cross beam in the right-hand room of the main block, and both fireplaces have been largely rebuilt. The cottage has group value with Berribridge House.
