Description
This headstone, located approximately 6 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Matthew, dates from around 1821 and commemorates siblings Richard and Damaris Raymont. It is made of slate and stands about 1 metre high with a flat top and upper concave corners. The front features a slightly recessed design that includes two adjoining tablet-shaped plaques. Each plaque has the first word in Gothic lettering, followed by upper and lower case Roman serif capitals. The left plaque is dedicated to Damaris, who died in 1821, while the right plaque honors Richard, who died in 1820. The top panel of the headstone is adorned with florettes surrounding a small central vase. The headstone is signed by Howell.
