Description
Gaddon House is a house dating to circa 1810. It is stuccoed with a hipped slate roof concealed behind a parapet featuring a heavy moulded cornice. The house has a double-depth plan, with the main rooms arranged on either side of a central through-passage, and is heated by two axial stacks. A service block adjoins the main house to the left.
The front elevation is symmetrical, with three bays. The first floor has sash windows, one horned and two unhorned, all with 3 panes above and 6 below. A debased open pedimented porch is centrally positioned, supported by two Ionic columns and pilasters. This porch shelters double doors with depressed panels and a quarter-glazed fanlight incorporating decorative glazing bars. Flanking the porch are 12-pane hornless sash windows. The right-hand side elevation has two 12-pane hornless sash windows on the ground floor.
The rear elevation is symmetrical, with five bays. The first floor has horned sash windows; the central window is round headed. Ground floor windows are 12-pane hornless sashes, and a flight of three steps leads to the central double doors. The service block is attached to the main block, with a lower hipped slate roof and a lateral stack. The service block has two hornless sash windows to the first floor and two horned sash windows to the ground floor, with 3 panes above and 6 below. A separate access to the service block is provided via a courtyard to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
