Description
Broomhill Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was remodeled in the mid-19th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, with stone rubble or cob stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick, and a thatched roof. The building has an L-shaped design with a three-room plan, and each wing has a cross passage leading to a 19th-century turret at the angle of the wings. The main façade faces south and is symmetrical with three windows, showcasing mid-19th-century sash windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an overlight, panelled reveals, and a 20th-century monopitch slate hood supported by raking struts. Flanking the door are 16-pane sash windows, with 12-pane sashes above and a central first-floor nine-pane sash. The roof is hipped at both ends, and the irregular west front facing the farmyard features a double eight-pane sash at first-floor level. The rear chimney shaft is made of late 18th to early 19th-century brick, including some burnt headers. Inside, the left front room and rear room both display exposed plain carpentry details, with the former featuring a large rubble fireplace with a plain oak lintel. The roof has not been inspected.
