Description

The Wicare chest tomb, located approximately 13 metres southeast of the aisle of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1638 in memory of Peter Wicare. It is constructed from hamstone ashlar and features a flat soffit-moulded lid with plain sides, resting on a moulded plinth. The southern long side of the tomb is inscribed in neat Roman serif capitals, commemorating the death of Peter Wicare in 1638.
