Description
Dipford Chapel is a medieval chapel now in ruins, constructed from local stone rubble. The remains of the walls stand up to about 8 feet high in some places and 4 feet in others, though the site is very overgrown. No architectural features were visible during the survey in 1986. The chapel was visited by Davidson in 1828, who noted that it had last been repaired in 1813 and that no services had been held since 1814. He described the chapel as having been reduced in size from 36 feet by 13 feet to 29 feet by 13 feet due to the collapse of the east wall. He also mentioned a "ruin almost covered with ivy," featuring a 2-light window with trefoil heads on the south side and remnants of the rood screen still visible.
