Description

The churchyard wall in Topsham is a Grade II listed structure, originally built as a retaining wall and standing about 20 feet high. It is constructed from various local stones and features low buttresses at ground level. A long flight of stone steps, complete with an iron balustrade, was added in 1843. Tablets on the churchyard side indicate that the wall was built and rebuilt in 1962, with buttressing work completed in 1808 and an extension made between 1827 and 1828.
