Description

The building is a large mansion, formerly known as Courtlands House and now divided into flats, located on Courtlands Lane in Lympstone. Parts of the building are likely from the 18th century or earlier. It is colourwashed stuccoed with a moulded eaves cornice and blocking course. The two-storey east facade features six sashes with bars. The recessed west side has five sashes with late 19th-century glazing, set within stone architraves that have keystones. A stone band runs along the first floor. A large, elaborately carved stone porch was added in the late 19th century, with quadrant walls flanking this section. The garden facade features a Victorian verandah with eight arches, the spandrels of which are decorated with scrollwork.
