Description
The Venn chest tomb, dated 1792, is located approximately 7 metres south of the nave of the Church of St Mary. It commemorates Thomas and Harriet Venn. The tomb is made of limestone ashlar and has a rectangular shape. Its flat lid features moulded edges, and the chest rests on a hollow chamfered plinth. The southern long sides have a simple rectangular panel inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, detailing the deaths of Thomas and Harriet Venn (1781 and 1782, respectively). The ends of the tomb are also inscribed with the deaths of other members of the Venn family.
