6/123 Chest tomb about 4 metres south of - the vestry of the church of St Nicholas GV II

Chest tomb. Probably C17. Freestone. A rectangular chest with a moulded oversailing lid and some rather unusual decoration. Each side has left and right pilasters with large flutes at the top and carved chevrons at the bottom, the 2 tiers divided by a bead moulding. The ends are carved with a series of shallow sunk panels. Illegible inscription on the north side.
