Description

The Knight headstone, dated 1710, is located approximately 15 metres south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Upottery. This Grade II listed headstone commemorates George Knight. It is made of hamstone and stands about 1.1 metres high with a shaped head. The front features a reeded frame and a carved winged cherub's head at the top. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, noting the death of George Knight in 1810.
