Description

The war memorial in Upottery, dating from around 1918, is made of limestone ashlar. It is located at a road junction in the center of the village and resembles a village cross. The memorial features a fleuree cross on a tall, tapering octagonal shaft, which stands on a four-step plinth. The west faces of the steps have plaques that list the names of men from Upottery who died in the First and Second World Wars. This cross serves as the focal point of the village and is surrounded by attractive listed buildings.
