Description
The Code chest tomb, located approximately 2 meters south of Newhouse Baptist Church, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1698 in memory of Nicholas Code. It is made of hamstone and has a rectangular shape with plain sides and a soffit-moulded flat lid. The plinth is buried. The southern long side features an inscription in Gothic lettering that commemorates the death of Nicholas Code in 1698. It is believed that Nicholas Code, who lived at nearby Moonhayes Farmhouse, donated the site for the Baptist Church.
