Description
Minsons Hill Farmhouse is probably of the 18th century, although it may incorporate earlier fabric, and was extended in the mid to late 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of local stone and flint rubble, with the older part plastered and the extension featuring brick dressings. It has a stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick and a thatched roof. The building is situated on a gentle hillslope, with a 3-room plan facing south-east. A small, unheated room, likely originally a dairy or buttery, is located at the south-west end. The central main room shares a stack with a 19th-century extension to the right, which was probably a parlour extension. The farmhouse has two storeys and a 3-window front with 19th and 20th-century replacement casement windows with glazing bars; many of the first-floor windows extend into the thatch. There are two front doorways, one in the centre room and another in the left room, both with 19th-century plank doors. The roof is hipped at both ends. While the interior was not inspected, it is believed that there may be 18th or 17th-century carpentry details in the older section.
