Description

UPOTTERY ST 10 NE 6/112 Meacham chest tomb approximately 4 - metres north-west of Newhouse Baptist Church GV II Chest tomb. Dated 1739 in memory of Thomas Meacham. Hamstone. Chest tomb is rectangular in plan with a soffit-moulded lid with low-pitched ridge on top. Any plinth is now buried. The sides have rectangular panels; with bead-moulded surrounds; 2 on each long side and 1 each end. Both southern panels are inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The left panel records the death of Thomas Meacham in 1739 and the right panel records the death of his son, also called Thomas, but no date of death given.
