Description
Burnthouse Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, featuring a stone rubble stack topped with plastered brick and Rolle Estate chimney pots. The roof is thatched, with a slate roof on the outshot. The cottage has a two-room plan and faces south, with the larger room on the left (western) side having a gable end stack. There are probably secondary outshots at the rear. The main cottage is two storeys tall and has a front that is not quite symmetrical, with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars and a central plank door. The roof is gable-ended on the left and hipped on the right. The interior reveals plain carpentry details where visible, although the roof has not been inspected.
