Description

The Bartlett chest tomb, located approximately 4 metres south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Winifred, dates from 1700 and commemorates Paul Bartlett. It is made of Beerstone ashlar and features a chest tomb design with a chamfered base and a soffit-moulded flat lid. Each side of the tomb has a single panel, which is flanked by plain projecting pilaster strips, while the ends are also panelled. The south panel bears an inscription in Roman serif capitals, including lower case letters, recording the death of Paul Bartlett in 1700.
