Description
Truances Cottage is a small house, likely built in the 18th century, with renovations from the 20th century. The exterior is whitewashed and rendered, featuring a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled at the right end, with a stack at the right end and an axial stack. The cottage has a two-cell plan and is situated on a triangular piece of land at the intersection of three roads, west of Gittisham village. The main entrance is located on the north (rear) wall, with a second entrance into an outshut at the east end. The building is two storeys tall and has an asymmetrical front with four windows. There are three 20th-century casements on the ground floor and four on the first floor. The rear elevation features a recessed plank door to the right, a ground floor three-light timber casement, and a small first floor one-light window. The rear of the cottage directly faces the road. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
