Description
This barn, located north-northwest of Great Trill Farmhouse, dates from the 16th century and incorporates remains of a manor house into a barn built around the 18th century. It is constructed from long stone rubble and features a gable-ended slate roof. There are cart doors positioned to the left of the center. Among the 16th-century elements, there is a moulded string course that rises over a blocked window with a moulded stone frame. At the center, there is a stone Tudor arched doorway that is now blocked. The east gable end includes a two-light ovolo double stone mullion window with a dripmould. The manor was one of the properties owned by the Drakes of Ashe, and it is said that the Duke of Marlborough was born here in 1650.
