Description
An 18th-century barn is located at Avil’s Farm. It is constructed of rubble stone and has a corrugated iron half-hipped roof, which slopes down at the north end to form a full hip over a cart-shed and loft addition. The barn features a projecting, hipped cart entry on its west side, supported by a timber lintel. A stone lean-to is attached to the right, and a corrugated iron lean-to links to the west gable of the cart-shed and loft. The upper floor of the cart-shed and loft is weatherboarded, incorporating a central door, and has a mansard roof with a half-hipped west gable. The barn's interior contains a 5-bay double purlin roof with tie-beam trusses and thin collars, along with queen posts and angle braces.
