Description

A set of four gatepiers at Seagry House, dating from the early 18th century, are constructed from ashlar stone. They feature channel-rusticated surfaces with projecting pilasters, moulded bases, and moulded cornices that break forward over the pilasters. The central piers are topped with gadrooned urns, while the outer piers have rounded urns. The entrance includes wrought iron gates in the center, flanked by spearhead iron rails on each side, complete with dog-bars. The outer rails slope down to a large circular ashlar stop, which is carved with a flower motif.
