Description

Seales Court is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century that underwent significant remodeling in the mid-20th century. It is constructed from rubble stone and features stone slate roofs. The building has two storeys and an attic. The main section includes a large central ridge stack, two hipped dormers, and a front that is largely in a 17th-century style but is primarily 20th-century in appearance. To the left, there is a projecting gabled porch bay with a Tudor-arched entrance and a 2-light window above. To the right of the porch bay, there is a single light window on each floor, and beyond that, a 3-light window on each floor. All windows, except for the ground floor right window, are 20th-century and have recessed cyma-moulded designs. The original window, which is early to mid-17th century, features a recessed chamfered style. Most windows have hoodmoulds, except for those at the upper centre and right.

Attached to the left is a lower 1.5-storey range with two windows, a south stack, and two gables. This range has recessed cyma-moulded mullion windows, with a 2-light window above and a 3-light window below, both featuring hoodmoulds. Although heavily renewed, this range corresponds to what is shown in old photographs. To the north of the main range, there are extensive 20th-century additions that match the original style. The rear of the main range has a similar early to mid-17th century 3-light window on the ground floor. A rear wing, mostly renewed, has dove-holes at the angle connecting it to the main range.

Inside, there is a large moulded Tudor-arched fireplace in the hall, a small stone fireplace beside the main stack, and a large stone fireplace with a depressed arch in the north room. The building features deep chamfered beams, and the south range includes a large timber-lintel fireplace at the south end.
