Description

Middlewick House is a house that features a front range from the late 18th century, with earlier work in the west wing and additions from the early and late 19th century. The front range is constructed of ashlar stone and has a stone-tiled roof, end stacks, a raised band, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. It is two stories high and has a five-window range. The windows are twelve-pane sashes, and there is a central six-panel door located in a Roman Doric projecting porch that has pilaster responds and a flat entablature.

The wings on either side of the main front are set back. The left wing is a later 19th-century addition and features a 20th-century Hely-Hutchinson crest on the north end, along with the initials of T.H.A. Poynder of Hartham on the south end. The right wing is possibly from the mid-18th century and has a blank north end wall, with a three-story west side. The ground and first floors have paired sashes in cyma-moulded surrounds, each pair topped with a cornice. The upper floor may be an addition and contains two pairs of twelve-pane sashes.

To the south of the main range is a parallel early 19th-century range made of rubble stone with an ashlar band and sill course. This range has a three-window layout of twelve-pane sashes and central French windows on the ground floor. To the left of this range is a slightly projecting one-window range of sashes with a hipped roof.
