Description
This is a mid-17th century house, subsequently refronted in the early 19th century and now used as a shop. It is located on the east side of the Market Place in Chippenham. The building is constructed of painted ashlar with a stone slate roof, the roof being higher to the left and hipped over the centre. A tall brick stack rises from the front slope of the left gable end. The building has a double-depth plan with a long, 17th-century rear range. The exterior is three storeys high, with a two-window front. It features a cornice, coped parapet, sill bands, and a plinth. The second floor has 3/6-pane sash windows, and the first floor has 6/6-pane sashes. A bow-fronted shop with a wide, early 19th-century door featuring six beaded panels occupies the right side of the front. The interior was not inspected.
