Description
Weir Bridge in Amesbury Abbey Park is a bridge and weir dating from the 18th century, located on the millstream of the River Avon. It is constructed of limestone and features three stilted semicircular arches, each with keystones and wing abutments. The bridge has a string course and a parapet with flush coping, which is horizontal over the central section and angled down over the side arches. On the upstream side, there are cutwaters and a weir, with sluice gates for each arch that are controlled from the bridge.
