Description

This cheesehouse dates from 1821 and is located to the north-east of Abingdon Court Farmhouse. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a stone slate roof and has two storeys and four bays. The ground floor features two doorways, one with a slatted outer door, as well as a three-light window. Windows have leaded lattice casements, with one blocked first-floor window and two two-light triangular leaded casements. A roof, half-hipped to the north, has a brick stack to the south gable, and an attic gable light to the north. A stone inscription on the first floor reads "Cheeseroom 1821." Inside, the cheesehouse contains a fireplace with pothangers and other irons, a copper, a cheese hatch from the first floor, and a plank partition on the north side of the first floor.
