Description
This is an early 18th-century building comprising three storeys and an attic, originally consisting of numbers 114 and 115, but now encompassing numbers 114 to 116 on the High Street. The exterior is tile-hung, featuring shaped tiles and wooden bands outlining the building's full height above the ground floor. A moulded wooden cornice runs along the top, supported by brackets. The roof is tiled, with six hipped dormer windows providing attic lighting. There are ten windows on the second floor and a mix of four angular bay windows and two single sash windows on the first floor. The glazing in all windows has been altered. The two right-hand bays are wider than the two left-hand bays. On the ground floor, to the left, are three 18th-century shop windows, two of which have been altered. A projecting rectangular bay window with curved ends, originally designed by H Duck, retains its original glazing and a shop door to its left. A yard entry is positioned to the right of the centre, and a plain 19th-century shop front is located on the right-hand side. A tiled pent roof, supported by cast iron columns, covers the ground floor. The building forms a group with numbers 112 to 116 (Potters End, The Castle & Ball Hotel) and numbers 117 to 124.
