Description

URCHFONT CHURCH LANE SU 0457 11/191 Group of 3 monuments in churchyard approximately 2-6m south of chancel, Church of St Michael II Three chest tombs in line abreast. Early C19. Limestone. From north: a) Corniced table, corner and central floral flush pilasters. Inscription in panels with floral corners. To Jane, wife of John ---. Date of death illegible. b) Cyma table, raised corner and centre pilasters with foliage carving. Raised oval panels. Not read. c) Corniced table. Floral end and centre pilasters dividing raised shields. Death's head and bones on end. To Joseph Pierce and wife, died 1743, 1763, Clara Pierce, died 1924 (sic). Jane Pierce, 1816 and James Pierce, died 1888.
