Description
Thatched Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been converted into a house, dating from the 17th century, with a date of 1665 noted on a reset timber. The building features a timber frame with red brick panels and a thatched roof, which is hipped to the east and has two rebuilt ridge stacks. It is one and a half storeys high and has a square frame with three by thirteen panels, supported by ogee-curved angle braces.
On the ground floor, there are pairs of casement windows on each side, with a central door that leads into a 20th-century thatched porch. To the right of the porch, there are two single casements, one of which has a dated lintel. The building also has thatched eaves dormers, a pair of casements to the left, and large leaded oriel windows in a 1-3-1 configuration, likely added around 1900, located in the centre and to the right.
To the left of the main range, under the roof hip, there is an addition made of rubble stone and chalk, which includes a casement window. The rear of the cottage features straight angle braces, casement windows on the ground floor, and dormers, with a door located to the left. The west end wall is timber framed with plaster panels.
